The semantic web is the idea of a web capable of understanding the meanings behind data, a concept proposed by World Wide Web inventor Tim Berners-Lee.

It is based on the Resource Description Framework (RDF) which can associate relationships between subject and object, allowing computers to understand the information they are displaying.
